Born and raised in Tucson, Nic Thiltges attended the University of Arizona and attained a Bachelor's of Science in 2008 majoring in molecular and cellular biology.
Nic began coaching volleyball in 2007 while in college. His first high school jobs were at Catalina Magnet with the girl's program and Tucson High with the boy's program. That same year he began coaching club volleyball with both Arizona Premier Volleyball for boys and Zona Volleyball for girls. From 2008-2010 Nic coached the freshman boys and girls at Salpointe Catholic.
In 2010 joined the Peace Corps for 2 years serving in a small pacific island nation called Vanuatu. Upon returning in 2012, he coached for 2 years at Dinamo. In 2013-14, Nic coached the boys and girls volleyball programs at Rincon High School. He has been the varsity coach at Catalina Foothills High School since the 2015 season.
In 2014 Nic took over Arizona Premier Volleyball as the director and has helped a number of Tucson boys pursue playing collegiately. That same year he became the head coach of the University of Arizona Men's Volleyball Club and has led the boys to national success with a 5th place finish in 2015 and a 3rd place finish in 2016.
In the fall of 2017, Nic and his wife welcomed their first child, a son named Rowan.
